We awoke this morning to find that the snow had moved on and that all of the shoveling from yesterday had been entirely neutralized. Being something of a Luddite, I don't own one of those modern snow blowing contraptions. In high school I learned to have a certain appreciation for shoveling snow. I think it was because Dad and I would do it together. I have never minded (much) getting out and clearing the drive and sidewalks. I find satisfaction in gazing at the product of my labors and reminding myself it was done by hand. That attitude is something passed down from Dad to me: "Don't be afraid of a little hard work, Bo."
I found today's project had me thinking about where I might store a snow-blower if we were to acquire one. I believe these thoughts (which no doubt emanate from Darkness) will prove to be fleeting and I will return to a false sense of pride based on eschewing mechanized snow removal. But I am positive that I will be investing in some sturdier shovels than I currently posses!
And wouldn't you know it? As soon as I finished clearing the drive and had grabbed the camera,
At any rate, we have done our part and now await a snow-plow to clear the road so I can get out of the sub-division and try to get to work. While shoveling, I watched a neighbor back out of his driveway and become mired in the street and quickly stuck. It took four men to get him back in his driveway. I have had to cancel the morning's appointments and am hoping to get in to work for the afternoon and evening ones. The weather has certainly broken up the routine this week!

"Don't be afraid of a little hard work, Bo." Great memory I can hear the voice right now.
I was playing golf with your Dad, I was still in High School. I hit a ball out of bounds to the right. I had teed the ball up on the left side of the tee. To this day I remember his words and advice everytime I tee it up. " Use your head Bobby, Tee the ball up on the right and aim to the left to give yourself more room for error."
Thanks for sharing that precious memory.
Wow! Great photographs! Although I miss the snow, I don't miss the shovelling. Later, I'll post a lovely photograph of some daffodils that I captured in full bloom yesterday.
